MEMBER-OWNERS to the Re-Election website and information center for the three PROVEN, EXPERIENCED and EFFECTIVE LEADERS who are running for re-election this year to the Rappahannock Electric Cooperative Board of Directors.
Rappahannock Electric Cooperative is an innovative and industry-leading supplier of safe, affordable, reliable, and sustainable electric energy throughout Virginia. It is one of the largest Member-Owned Electric Cooperatives in the country. REC’s service territory extends from the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains to the scenic tidal waters of the Chesapeake Bay.
REC differs from investor-owned utilities in that YOU own this company. You have the opportunity each year to select YOUR Board of Directors to work on YOUR behalf to ensure that REC continues to innovate, provide strong and sustainable financial results and to deliver on our mission of providing safe, reliable, affordable, and sustainable electricity. The Board works for YOU!
REC is led by an outstanding management team which reports to YOUR Board. YOUR Board sets strategic direction, provides operating goals, monitors performance, and ensures the Cooperative operates in a sound manner.
Each Director brings unique talents, perspectives, and experiences to the Board and provides effective leadership. This year, there are three extremely experienced and effective Directors up for re-election:
- Michael W. Lindsay, Director since 2010, former Board Treasurer and Current Vice-Chairman of the Board. Mike represents Region 1 which includes RECs service territory in Frederick and Shenandoah Counties, and portions of Page, Warren, and Rappahannock Counties.
- Linda R. Gray, Director since 1998, and served many years as the Board Secretary. Linda represents Region Six which includes Caroline County.
- J. Mark Wood, Director since 2016 and current Board Secretary. Mark represents Region 7 which includes Louisa County.
More information on these outstanding candidates is available here
Each Director is elected by ALL MEMBERS. There is no geographic requirement to voting. These three outstanding leaders have a combined experience leading REC of nearly 35 years.
The three of us hope you enjoy the website, learning more about the issues facing the cooperative and why we are the best choices to continue to lead REC. We humbly ask that you complete your proxy cards which will arrive in July’s “Cooperative Living” magazine or to vote in our new on-line option available through your REC Smart Hub.
It has been our honor to serve you and again, we humbly request your support.
All the best,
J. Mark Wood
